As a house parent at Compass Rose Academy, Marla Richards is able to share her love of Christ with others, especially those who are hurt or broken-hearted. Even before she received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marla was working in her field, serving in multiple mentoring programs at the university. Since then she has acquired more social work experience, serving as a life skills instructor for a mental health agency and providing employment services for Carey Services. One of her favorite experiences has been working as a counselor at Christ-centered camps that serve individuals with disabilities. A proponent of equine therapy, she also spent a summer volunteering at a therapeutic riding center.
